For many years, Hotel Engel has been organising a special experience for young guests during the Pentecost holidays: a football camp for children in South Tyrol.
Training sessions are led by coach Marc Digeser, who knows exactly how to inspire children for the sport while teaching them teamwork and the joy of the game.
The training ground is located in the village of Nova Levante (Welschnofen) in South Tyrol, just a few minutes from the hotel – with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains of the Catinaccio and Latemar.
How the Football Camp at Engel Began
The story of the camp starts on the football field in the village of Nova Levante. At that time, coach Marc Digeser, from the football school Anpfiff in Rottweil, organised a football camp there for the local football club. Matthias and Johannes, the sons of the Engel host family, were also playing for the club at the time. Matthias was the goalkeeper, Johannes played midfield.
Over several summers they trained with Marc and were immediately impressed by his ability to inspire children for football. From this shared experience an idea emerged:

A Tradition for Many Families
Since then, the kids football camp has taken place every year during the Pentecost holidays at Hotel Engel. Many children participate for several years in a row. Some start when they are very young and return year after year. You can see them grow, become more confident with the ball and develop an even greater passion for the game.
For many families, the camp has become a small holiday tradition in the Dolomites. Coach Marc Digeser also values this special atmosphere – because he is able to accompany the development of many children over several years.
A Typical Day at the Football Camp
The days begin actively. In the morning, the children walk together to the football field in Nova Levante, just a few minutes from the hotel.
After a joint warm-up session, the training begins. Technical drills, coordination exercises, small games and plenty of movement are all part of the programme.
At lunchtime everyone returns to the hotel. During lunch, stories are shared, laughter fills the table and energy is restored for the afternoon.
Later, the children return to the pitch for more training sessions, small matches or even a tournament. After training, the relaxed part of the day begins.
Many children meet again later at the hotel – playing billiards, trying the iWall or spending time together in the pool. Often, it is during these moments that new friendships are formed.
Once a week there is also a special activity for a change of pace – for example a visit to the climbing hall or another shared adventure.
In this way, the camp combines sport, movement and holiday experiences in the Dolomites.
More Than Just Football
Over the years, the football camp at Engel has become much more than just training on the pitch.
It is about movement, teamwork and sharing a special week together. And when the children head home at the end of the camp – proud of what they have experienced – it becomes clear once again why this week has become such an important part of many families’ holidays.
